ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION

Pantai Premier Pathology is proud to have achieved an important quality accomplishment with registration to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001:2000 standard, since May 2002. This certification recognized our achievement internationally in Quality Management System which covers all aspects of our Operational processes, throughout our eight laboratories.

With this achievement, we have learned that quality is not a destination, but a journey that must be followed by everyone in the organization, thus great attention had been devoted to the training and motivation of staff on an on-going basis, in our pursuit for operational and organizational excellence. Top level management support provides the engine for progress towards completion of implementation and maintenance thereafter.

Significant benefits in which we have reaped from this certification include initiating a process of organization learning, and most importantly, continuing reaching for greater goals in terms of continuous improvement in every aspect of the operation with the ultimate benefit of a better service and customer satisfaction.

As one of the nation's largest, private and independent medical testing laboratory, we feel it is important to demonstrate to our customers that our quality management system have withstood the scrutiny of a rigorous external assesment by an international standard, says Mr. Vincent Chang, Chief Executive Officer, PPPSB. "We are proud to be among the health care facilities that have undergone ISO's internationally recognized certification process."

MS ISO 15189:2004 ACCREDITATION
Pantai Premier Pathology is delighted to announce that in September 2006 we were successfully
audited by DSM (Department of Standards Malaysia) and was awarded the MS ISO 15189 accreditation standard for the scope of Histopathology and Cytopathology.. This represents another significant milestone in the development of the company.

MS ISO 15189 is the new medical testing standard which focuses on laboratory analysis and supporting functions. It is an international standard recognised world-wide, thus ensuring that our clients are guaranteed a clinical pathology service which withstands scrutiny at the highest level.

We started our journey to accreditation by submitting our application to DSM in September 2005. The following assessments were performed.

Adequacy Assessment.
A DSM accreditation lead auditor was assigned to perform on site documentation review on our quality manual and associated documents. This involved assessing the adequacy of our documented management system against accreditation criteria MS ISO 15189 and SAMM requirements.

Pre and Compliance assessment
The aim of these assessments was to establish whether our laboratory can competently perform those tests for which accreditation is sought.
The assessment team comprised of qualified lead assessor and supported by technical assessors who have been selected on the basis of their testing expertise and experience. Their qualifications are also supplemented by knowledge gained from appropriate training in laboratory accreditation.
The purpose of the pre and compliance assessment is to verify, firstly, the laboratory’s technical competence and, secondly, the effectiveness and maturity of the management system implemented. When our laboratory fully complied with the criteria of accreditation and confidence in its technical competence is established by the assessment team, then only we are recommended for accreditation.

Our Consultant Pathologist, ie Dr. Low and Dr. Nik were both proud and delighted that we have now been awarded the new medical laboratory accreditation standard MS ISO 15189.This recognition for our quality systems and analytical standards is due to the hard work and dedication of all our management team and technical staff”.
